Where The Grass Is Greener

Wuhan City

Day 2
6.3.09

we hardly see our neighbours but most are friendly

temperature was 0 to 3 degress

our small court yard which we have to walk past everyday

we had to wake up at like 7 and we had to walk briskly to our classroom for an opening ceremony. it was a really long walk which lasted for like 2o minutes or so and my legs were freezing in the cold despite the 2 layers of socks that i wore. i realised that China people can really walk very fast. maybe because they have to rush to their classes and their dorms are quite far away.

we see this cart everywhere in the campus. they're the road sweepers

check out the superman underpants. its been there for like since our 4 days stay here.
maybe its supposed to be permanently there

hello warm cosy classroom
ok that's kit posing for almost every photo that i take
she so wants to be poster girl for my Wuhan album

don't look at the other two. look at cute Kang Qi in the middle!
haha joke.

they have these kind of cabbagelook-alike vegetation all around campus
looks like cabbage but Amanda says it's not.

so after that we had a tour of our campus which is REALLY and i mean REALLY HUGE! its like walking the whole of town and Cityhall and Bugis back in Singapore. tried to take as many shots as possible of the people living here.

chemistry department.
they specialize in pesticides.

this is the campus building for meetings and important events

the canteen nearest to our dorm. it has a halal food stall inside which i have yet to try

our china friend :D

snowmen

our other china friend

history department

kit trying to blow some vapour

photography club! they're recruiting members in

it's their way of saying do not step on the grass

jonahthan peter is flex man!

their mode of transportation around the campus
we wish we could each get one
it'll be so much easier on our poor feet

morning exercises.
reminds me of S&W back in school. haa

everyone had their own thermos flask of water as water is limited here
plus everyone needs warm water here
wishes and blessings were written all over the flask to identify which one is whose
some even like wrote 'long live my flask' so as their flask won't be stolen. i found it really funny but adorable.

aziz and ram acting cute only. haha.
they call it video call

dr zhu explaining to shakkir about the pile of coal lying around on the side of the road
they use the coal supplied to city to burn as fuel

yuxue, the adidas guy i forgot his name, jun peng and tian ci

yiren! one man. haha

aziz and shakkir do kung fu chaos!

the old folks here are really hardowrking and healthy. they cycle and walk long distances

there's this cactus shop nearby the campus' basketball courts. their pots are really cute.

fariz, kit's best friend. haha

li hong, hu kun and agnes. i like to say "EH HELLO" to them the China way.

they have super adorable dogs here. loads of them. fluffy ones.

ok my turn to blow vapour

the city is quite clean cos of the hardworking old cleaners

check out the campus bus! super cool.

Kang Qi so cute again :D my little sister

the doors are like this. as in they do not use sliding doors or open doors for shopping centres and major buildings. they use like plastic flaps or curtain flaps where you have to push your way through the weight of the flaps.

so we had a welcome lunch at some chinese restaurant again. there were loads of food. like tofu in soup, duck soup(which i didn't eat), vegetable dishes, rice (which came the latest after everyone ate everything else), deep fried japanese fish (this was so awesome!), steamed corn(oh my gosh i love this!) and other dishes which i could'nt try for obvious reasons.

Amanda and Kit love to cam whore. tsk.

shakkir who didn't shower

irritating sisterhood

it kept following us!

the pink chicks! so fluffy :)

street contradiction

we found the house of Ronald Macdonald!

so after that we went into town for shopping of our daily goods and necessities. we spent a total of 200+ yuan

i had a can of black pepper tuna for dinner, Kit, Kang Qi and Amanda had cup noodles. we thought we were suffering already. because we're not used to the whole living away from home yet. and of course we miss home food. cos almost everything here looks and tastes alien.

end of day 2 :D
